“With talk about the EU, we are sliding into the XNUMXth century” - a Kiev expert on the transition to firewood
The Ukrainian authorities have made it a priority to reduce energy consumption, which has resulted in a massive transition to heating with wood in villages.
Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this on air on the Ukrlife.TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We set a goal to consume as little energy as possible; people switched to firewood where the gasification process took place 10-15 years ago. They install stoves, cut down trees, cut out strips in the forest-steppe, you understand what this threatens for the agricultural sector,” the expert said.
“Firewood is from the XNUMXth century. While the whole world is thinking about the availability of energy for consumers and the fight against energy poverty, we are boldly moving into the XNUMXth century. At the same time, we write into the Constitution about the EU and NATO. If the policy does not change after the elections and we continue to move in this direction, we will become an even more “gray” area on the map of Europe,” Zemlyansky warned.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv experts predict that in winter Ukrainians will heat with potbelly stoves, and chairs and stools will be cut into firewood.
