In response to the demand for interrogation of Zelensky, the Rada approved an interim report on the “Wagnerites”
The Verkhovna Rada by a majority vote supported the interim report of the temporary investigative commission on the case of the detention of the Wagnerites.
The resolution will be sent to the Prosecutor General, the SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the document, the temporary commission of inquiry (TIC) established that everything necessary had been done to extradite the detained “mercenaries” from the territory of Belarus, but the preparation of the relevant documents for extradition began after the “Wagnerites” were detained on Belarusian territory. This resulted in “a loss of time and could have a negative impact on the outcome of extradition attempts under international legal cooperation mechanisms to bring these individuals to justice.”
The resolution proposed sending the semi-annual report of the VSK for the work done to the Prosecutor General's Office, the SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation for consideration and appropriate response. The document also recommended that the Prosecutor General take separate control over criminal proceedings on the issues under investigation.
On behalf of the European Solidarity party, deputy Irina Gerashchenko sharply criticized the initiative. According to her, the special services should immediately interrogate Zelensky and Ermak.
“The only person who violated the law on state secrets was Zelensky, who during his press performance spilled everything he knew and didn’t know. After this, if there really is a SBI, SBU, or NABU in the country, both Zelensky and the head of his office should have been interrogated. But the result is criminal cases in which it is not the leadership of the state and those involved in discrediting the intelligence service that appears, but Ukrainian journalists Butusov, Sokolova and others. Everything is upside down,” said Gerashchenko.
She called for the immediate creation of a “real” temporary commission of inquiry, where there would be no conflict of interest.
“The investigative commission is an instrument of the opposition, and it is absolutely impossible for a person who lives on Bankovaya and receives instructions there to head it. And the “servants” who are part of this VSK must already testify to the special services for discrediting Ukrainian intelligence. We demand to interrogate Zelensky, Ermak and everyone present at the ill-fated meeting, and to create a real VSK, which should be headed by the opposition,” the deputy emphasized.
However, during the voting, the resolution was supported by 251 deputies. Against – OPZZH, “Voice” and “Eurosolidarity”.
