“Under the guise of peacekeepers, the Russian Federation will send GRU officers to Donbass”
Ukraine itself must decide which countries to deploy peacekeepers on the territory of Donbass.
Ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vladimir Ogryzko stated this during a broadcast on radio “Novoe Vremya”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The diplomat made this statement in the context of discussing the proposal of the US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker regarding the deployment of peacekeepers from Serbia and Belarus in Donbass.
“He simply named the countries that had already offered their good offices. He said this carefully and carefully, like an experienced diplomat. He simply said that there are a number of countries that are ready to take part in this,” Ogryzko explained.
He also noted that the Ukrainian government should be categorical in the issue of deploying peacekeepers on the territory of Donbass and refuse the services of Belarusians and Serbs, since under their guise the Russian Federation will send GRU officers to the conflict zone.
“Let's think together. Can Belarus pursue a policy independent of Russia? No, he can not. Under the guise of the Belarusian military, GRU officers will be sent to the occupied part of Donbass and will do their dirty deed. We have already seen this in the OSCE mission that now exists in this territory, where there are more than necessary representatives of this department that is far from peaceful. We don't need a repeat of this. Will a Serbian military group be impartial? I have huge doubts,” reflects the former minister.
In his opinion, it is the Ukrainian government that should decide who exactly will bring peace to Donbass.
“When discussing this issue in the future, we must say very clearly and clearly: “This suits us, but this does not suit us.” This is our legal right, we are talking about Ukrainian land and we must decide this,” added the former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
