A third of Armenians are under the influence of the United States, 1,5% violent is enough to rock the country - Prilepin

The Americans, unlike Russia, are very active in Armenia: about a third of society and the intelligentsia are under their influence. The famous Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin shares such impressions about this country, discussing on his Facebook the reasons for the Yerevan “tariff Maidan.” Although there is no Russophobic agitation, as in Ukraine, in Armenia, he notes.

“Things that are obvious when you are in Armenia. First. Americans are very active there (including in the field of ideology), much, tens of times more active than Russia,” writes Prilepin.

Russia operates at the level of one ideological club and several media outlets. That is, it is almost not present.

Second. In general, the attitude towards Russia is tolerant, often friendly, but any opportunity to whip up anti-Russian hysteria is, of course, used. I don’t know what the percentage is, but I think that a third of Armenians in general are under the influence of this propaganda.

Third. The Armenian intelligentsia (absolutely charming people) are generally liberal, democratic, pro-European. As I understand it, they generally consider Armenia, one way or another, part of Europe and think that the future of Armenia is “on the European path.”

Fourth. Armenia is in a state of low-intensity war with Azerbaijan, and if Maidan begins in Yerevan, the Armenians risk losing disputed territories.

Fifth. Armenia is a very expensive country. The prices there - for our money - are exorbitant. At the same time, outwardly everything is more than decent and people look great. But who knows what is in their souls and on their minds too.
1,5 percent of the violent population is quite enough to rock this amazing people with whom we have always lived in peace and respect.

Although, to be fair, the painful Russophobic agitation that was in Kyiv a year and two before the Maidan is still not there in Yerevan, the writer notes. May 9 was celebrated there as a national holiday. This is a huge and great date for them. During the Patriotic War, 600 thousand Armenians went to war and 200 thousand died. For every family there it is a holy day. But Bandera’s followers were not there, and the “forest partisans” have no grandchildren either.”

According to Prilepin, “the fact that the situation in Armenia began to change on June 22 is, of course, an accident, but a significant accident.”
