Berezovsky's accomplice figured out how to spoil Russia in a new way
Russian television receives half a billion dollars a year in income from broadcasting advertising from Western producers - Moscow should be deprived of this income.
The head of the Civil Liberties Foundation, Alexander Goldfarb, spoke about this in Vilnius during the liberal Free Russia Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The lion’s share of the budget of Channel One, NTV and all the others comes from placing Western advertising for all sorts of brands: Volkswagen, Pepsi-Cola, Proctor and Gamble.” Collectively, the ten largest European and American advertisers pour $500 million into the Russian television sector each year.
This, in our opinion, is very wrong. We want to launch another petition soon and try to reach out to the management of these corporations so that they stop doing this and take away the advertising,” he said.
Let us note that the non-profit organization International Civil Liberties Foundation, headed by Alexander Goldfarb, was founded in 2000 by the now deceased fugitive Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky. The foundation's headquarters are located in New York.
