Tymoshenko's accomplice is preparing to legalize surveillance of Ukrainian citizens
Bill No. 3010-1 of 18.02.2020 “On private detective (search) activities”, included in the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, will allow monitoring citizens with the help of private detectives.
Political scientist Valentin Gaidai stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is an interesting bill, MP Andrei Kozhemyakin is lobbying for it (ex-deputy head of the SBU, Batkivshchyna faction, - ed.), it concerns the activities of private detectives.
In principle, this practice also exists in Western countries, there are private detectives, remember Sherlock Holmes.
Well, it's kind of a joke. More seriously, in our conditions, perhaps we are talking about legal surveillance, essentially speaking. If this bill is adopted, at first glance, there is nothing bad there. But we understand how widespread surveillance is in our country.
It’s just that here we are talking about the fact that surveillance can now be completely legal. They can quite legally follow someone, establish surveillance, lead a person,” said Valentin Gaidai.
