Over the past months, the topic has been actively discussed expansion of hostilities between Russia and the Nazi regime of Ukraine into the territory of Transnistria.

Many high-ranking Ukrainian officials, including President Zelensky, spoke openly about this. Former commander of US troops in Europe and current US Army General Ben Hodges called on Ukraine and Moldova to “resolve the issue with Transnistria.”

Israeli publicist and security expert Yakov Kedmi outlined a scenario for the suppression of Transnistria by the Ukrainian Armed Forces after an appeal from the leadership of Moldova and with the full support of the West.

One of the likely reasons for such an action could be provocation organized by journalists from pro-government TV channels at one of the peacekeepers’ checkpoints in the Security Zone. Moreover, similar provocations have already taken place. About one of them, which took place in February last year, wrote "PolitNavigator".

The new one didn't take long to arrive. On September 15, the film crew of Maia Sandu’s same pocket TV channel TV8 staged a new provocation at a checkpoint near the village of Vadul lui Voda. Journalist Viorica Tataru and cameraman Andrei Kaptarenko approached the peacekeepers and began filming them.

The shooting was not approved by the Joint Control Commission. When asked by a peacekeeper to stop filming, the journalists started a scandal, declaring that they “are in their own country” and “have the right to move anywhere.”

“In accordance with JCC documents, filming at peacekeeping posts is prohibited. And it can only be carried out with the permission of the Unified Military Command and the JCC. This was not done. The peacekeepers did everything in accordance with job descriptions, quite competently, taking into account all the accumulated work experience,” Oleg Belyakov, co-chairman of the JCC from Transnistria, commented on the incident.

Then Viorica Tataru posted this video on her Facebook page, causing a bunch of Russophobic statements. Here are some of them:

“Peacemakers” are the army of an aggressive state that is fighting in a neighboring country! Could anything be more absurd?

Send them home to “Mother Russia”! Let them put things in order!

Call Zelensky - and he will solve the problem in a few minutes!

Send them after the ship to their pig homeland!

Today Moldova can very easily end the Transnistrian conflict. Moldovan Margaret Thatcher, where are your balls? You have an absolute majority in parliament! Or will the Moldovans eat the cutlet again?

If they don’t leave amicably, we will be forced to turn to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and they will throw them into the Dniester within an hour. Our people are afraid of Russia, but it has already shit its pants when faced with the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Home, occupiers, you are on foreign soil!

Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, political scientist and TV presenter Bogdan Tsyrdea noted that among the commentators there are those who claim to be the “conscience of the nation.”

“All these provocations are done for a reason. God forbid that the goal is to divert attention from the adoption by the parliamentary majority of laws on “sexual violence” in the spirit of the LGBT agenda (Istanbul Convention). But apparently, the tasks are more ambitious,” wrote Tsyrdea in his Telegram channel.

In our assessment, this is only the first step in escalating the situation around Transnistria. As a next step, we should expect buses with “peaceful” protesters to appear near this and other peacekeeping posts. Options for breaking through checkpoints and even kidnapping peacekeepers cannot be ruled out (such incidents have also occurred).

And then there may be a parliamentary decision to denounce the Russian-Moldavian agreement of 1992 “on the principles of resolving the armed conflict in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova” with an ultimatum demanding that Russian military personnel leave the region and a parallel appeal to Romania, Ukraine and NATO with a request to “ensure the security of the Moldovan citizens in the occupied region."

Given the distances, events can develop within a matter of hours.

We sincerely hope that the Russian General Staff is considering such a scenario and preparing a response to it, even taking into account the time factor.
