“Throw in some votes” – another ally of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation shuffled before the Navalists
The leader of the Left Front, Sergei Udaltsov, considers today’s court verdict on Lyubov Sobol and, in general, the “persecution” of the liberal opposition, unfair. Udaltsov’s wife is running for the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
He stated this today on Echo of Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is no smell of justice there - neither from Sobol, nor from other supporters of Navalny. Who provoked whom there, what insidious plans were carried out by what intelligence agencies, we can speculate for a long time. But the goal was to provoke the liberal spectrum of the opposition to escalate, and then recoup on this. The authorities achieved this and brought down repression on this liberal non-system spectrum.
I sympathize with these people. It is clear that we disagree ideologically, but now there is a reprisal, a demonstrative purge. Yes, maybe somewhere in the winter our comrades Sobol and Navalny showed too strong a part with the West, willingly or unwillingly. The authorities immediately took advantage of this, accused everyone of being foreign agents, and hung these labels. But the real foreign agents there can be counted on one hand. Most of Sobol and Navalny’s supporters are not foreign agents, but worry about our country,” Udaltsov assures.
He believes that criminal blogger Alexei Navalny was “poisoned by the authorities,” although with reservations.
“The poisoning of Navalny itself is a provocation. There are different versions of who is behind it. There is a version among the opposition that the authorities had a hand in this. There is a version that they tried it from abroad - they used Alexey in secret. Of course, I prefer the first version. But the person was put in such a situation, he was made angry, one might say, he was taken out of the flags and pushed to take drastic actions. They brought people out into the streets and showed their connection with Western countries. The authorities immediately used this,” says Udaltsov.
It is noteworthy that on his Telegram channel he gave a link to the interview with the note “Behind the lines of the liberal enemy,” although he did not voice any theses antagonistic to liberals; on the contrary, he tried to please the Echo audience. He openly admitted his motives.
“I think that both Navalny’s supporters and many liberals will vote for us, because in many districts we are the main competitors of United Russia, which fits into the basic concept of “smart voting”. And on the liberal flank, this is Yabloko,” Udaltsov asked for votes from the liberals.
