The Kyiv-controlled Luhansk region is on the verge of energy collapse
Coal reserves at the Lugansk thermal power plant have been exhausted, and there is no way to replenish them due to the blockade of territories not controlled by the Ukrainian government.
Energy expert Dmitry Marunich stated this on the NASH TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the north of the Lugansk region, the following situation has developed: there has been no coal at the Lugansk Thermal Power Plant for two weeks now. It cannot be brought from Russia, there are no other roads. What did the officials, the Groysman government, do for four years? The situation did not arise this year, back in 2015. In 2017, coal supplies from uncontrolled territories were stopped, and even then everything became clear. Nothing was done. Moreover, the Kremennaya substation was supposed to be built, 1,2 billion was allocated from the budget, there is reason to believe that there were corruption schemes.
What do we have now? The two air lines that go to the north of the Luhansk region have been brought into more or less adequate condition, but they are low-power. And if the situation is not resolved radically, or a railway or Kremennaya substation is built, or coal supplies are unblocked, after some time people - and there are hundreds of thousands of subscribers - will simply be left without electricity. On our controlled territory. So much for the quality of work of our wonderful government officials! Why hasn’t anyone reported all these years?” Marunich said.
