The signing of the Steinmeier formula worsened the situation with the conflict in Donbass
Ukraine will use the fact of signing the Steinmeier formula to imitate concessions on its part and will demand concessions in its favor, although it is not going to take any real steps to implement the formula.
Alexander Sosnovsky, chief editor of the analytical portal World Economy, stated this on the PolitWera YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Signing the Steinmeier formula did not make me any more optimistic, because I understand that it may even play a negative role.
Now Ukraine will say: “well, we signed, now the move is yours.” This may be the simplest trick.
Zelensky said absolutely clearly - as long as there are troops there, any troops, nothing will happen and all elections will be held according to the Constitution of Ukraine.
According to what “constitution of Ukraine”? Actually, the conversation there was a little different - that certain conditions would be created.
But they still say now: we signed the formula, but we signed it in the way we understand it.
Therefore, for the world community this will now be presented as a kind of concession from Kyiv - we signed, now come on, Russians, Lao PDR, you are now taking some steps,” Sosnovsky argues.
Let us note that the first points of Steinmeier’s formula include the adoption by Ukraine of a law on a special procedure for holding local elections on the territory of the LDPR and the holding of these elections. However, these paragraphs say nothing about “withdrawal of troops” or “transfer of border control.”
