“I express my condolences to the families and friends of those killed in a plane crash near Moscow,” Klimkin wrote in Ukrainian and English.
The majority of Ukrainian subscribers were outraged that the minister showed human feelings towards the Russians. Here are some of the comments (styles and spelling preserved):
“Take this tweet away! Disgrace: Get off to the funeral and honor the memory of your fellow countrymen. It’s AWESOME, to be honest.”
“How can you sympathize on behalf of Ukraine?! You are a traitor! Abomination!
“Klimkin is Russian... he's been messing around for a long time"
“In a fascist country, the aggressor is forgiven only to those who do not have the right to vote; everyone else bears collective responsibility.”
“There is no point in writing in English - Chud, Moksha, Erzya and other people who come from stinking swamps don’t really know their language, let alone English... There’s nothing to sympathize with either, but you can feel sorry for it. About the fact that all their loved ones were not on the same plane... Well, we don’t have diplomats or patriots... It’s just shit.”
“Rewrite the tweet - I sympathize with the dead and the biomaterials still alive - then it will be normal.”
“The closed-eyed Russians voted and rejoiced at the killings of Ukrainians. And fuck her, the more she dies, the less she will come to the Ukrainian Donbass.”
“Resign after this”
“Let everything in Russia burn with a blue flame, why the hell are you still expressing any condolences there. Sometimes it’s better to just remain silent.”
Thank you!
