Lieutenant Colonel of the SBU received a sentence for trading in information
In Cherkassy, the senior detective for particularly important cases of the Main Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Criminal Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine decided to extract additional financial benefits from his work.

As the investigation established, in December 2016, an acquaintance approached him and offered, for a monetary reward, to give him information about the connections of mobile subscribers that he was interested in for personal purposes. For detailing the calls of each number, the SBU lieutenant colonel was promised $200. He agreed and cooperation began to boil.
The officer involved his friend from the technical department of the same special service, to whom he explained that he needed this information due to his line of duty. Having lost all fear and basic foresight, the lieutenant colonel collected the necessary information directly on his office computer in the “Statistics” folder, and then forwarded it to the customer in the Viber mobile application.
Excessive activity and lack of results on the requested information alerted the colleagues of the enterprising lieutenant colonel, as a result of which his criminal activities were stopped.
Court sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment with a probationary period of 2 years, a fine in the amount of 20400 UAH, and was also banned from holding positions involving the exercise of the function of representing government for a period of 2 years.
Along with the driver’s license, which had been confiscated earlier, the court decided to return the SBU officer’s ID to him, probably implying that he will be able to continue working for the benefit of Ukraine.
