Lieutenant Colonel of the SBU: Russia does not want to fragment Ukraine
Russia is not interested in splitting Ukraine into many small states.
Former SBU officer, Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Mulyk, stated this on the Politwera Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In general, I believe that two factors are keeping Ukraine afloat now. The first factor is the presence of global players, called oligarchs, who actually profit from this. Yes - sharing some places with Western partners.
And the second is that it is not profitable for Russia to have 20 different states running around with spears here, to negotiate with them separately, to send diplomatic missions or peacekeeping missions there. This is very unprofitable for Russia, which is why it does not recognize the LPR and DPR,” said the ex-SBU officer.
He argues that Russia benefits from Ukraine in the form in which it exists, “no matter how sad it may sound.”
“The fact that we ourselves are starting to shove in pieces of territory, Crimea - we actually started to bargain, the Turks gave the same amount and Britain and its friends for this Crimea. And when the bidding began, the Russians said – stop, wait, this won’t work. That’s why the government of the country that we have today, after the Maidan, the “Gidnost Revolution”, has the impression that it is forcibly trying to cram the country somewhere with spare parts and sell it,” concluded Mulyk.
