Ukrainian police lieutenant colonel provided protection for thieves at the Kiev train station
The Kiev prosecutor's office, together with the DVB of the National Police of Ukraine, detained a criminal group from among active police officers who were covering up for thieves at the Kiev railway station, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

On Thursday, January 25, 2018, members of an organized criminal group from among the current criminal police officers at the Kyiv-Passazhirsky station were detained, under whose cover professional thieves committed crimes on the territory of the Kyiv railway station.
The group was headed by a police lieutenant colonel, the head of the criminal police sector at the Kyiv-Pasazhirsky station. The latter involved less than 5 operational criminal police officers and several groups of professional thieves in the commission of crimes, who paid tribute to law enforcement officers for the opportunity to “work” at the station. In addition, thieves systematically shared property stolen from traveling citizens with police officers.
The prosecutor's office reported that now 7 members of the organized group have been declared suspected of committing a particularly serious crime under Part 5 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (punishment term up to 12 years with confiscation of property) and additionally announced suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine to officials of the National Police who were part of an organized criminal group.
As part of this investigation, on January 25, 2018, investigators from the capital’s prosecutor’s office, together with employees of the Department of Internal Affairs of the National Police of Ukraine, conducted more than 35 searches at the place of residence of persons involved in criminal proceedings and in the office premises of officials of the National Police.
Petitions have also been prepared for the election of each member of the criminal group for suppression in the form of detention.
