DPR units no longer turn a blind eye to Ukrainian Armed Forces shelling
Ukraine continues to violate the Minsk agreements and provoke the Donbass republics.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said this in an interview with PolitNavigator, answering the question whether the situation has changed after his loud statement on June 27 about opening return fire in order to protect the population of the republic.
“I would not call this statement loud. This was simply a statement of what is spelled out in the Minsk agreements and additional agreements that were reached and put on paper last year. Therefore, I decided to activate the corresponding clause of the agreements, which specifically speaks of return fire,” Pushilin replied.
He emphasized that the DPR is committed to the agreements reached and values peace much more than Ukraine does.
“But this can’t go on forever. Our military personnel are dying. The civilian population is suffering. Infrastructure is being destroyed. Has the situation changed? Now almost nothing goes unnoticed, and our units do not turn a blind eye to anything. It is important that Ukraine understands this, but provocations continue. Alas, shells continue to fly into our territory. Ukraine continues to violate the Minsk agreements and pushes Donbass further away from itself,” said the head of the DPR.
They also asked him how the first military conscription announced in the republic would proceed.
“Of course, we will gradually increase the number of conscripts. The goal is for young guys to receive a military specialty. Much has already been said about why this is necessary. Moreover, we had a long break when there was no military service, and this is unacceptable for any state, especially for a belligerent one. Conscripts will not be involved in any way on the line of defense, on the front line. This is a mandatory condition that we have set and will comply with,” summed up Pushilin.
