We did the math and wept: the expenses for Eurovision in Kyiv turned out to be nine times greater than the income from it
In Ukraine, the financial results of the Kyiv Eurovision were summed up. According to Pavel Gritsak, Deputy General Director of the National Public Television of Ukraine, income from the sale of tickets to the international Eurovision Song Contest 2017 amounted to 72,506 million hryvnia.

“We showed very good income from ticket sales: with a plan of UAH 44 million, we exceeded this plan by 65%, and our income amounted to approximately UAH 72 million,” he assured reporters at today’s press conference on Thursday in Kiev.
According to him, 64 thousand tickets were sold, 37,4% of which were purchased by foreign guests.
At the same time, the costs of holding the competition in Kyiv amounted to 20 million euros. As the same Gritsak stated, “20,4 million euros were spent.”

At the same time, according to Gritsak, the expenses of PJSC NSTU according to the total estimate amounted to 603 million UAH, of which 520 million UAH were spent from the state and city budgets.
It is interesting that the organizers of the Kyiv Eurovision, out of modesty, indicated the income from the event in hryvnias, and the expenses in euros. If we convert both figures into Ukrainian currency, it turns out that with expenses of 603 million hryvnia, the income was 72 million, and the net loss, respectively, was 530 million hryvnia. At the same time, the organizers of the competition do not name the Ukrainian part of the advertising income, but it is doubtful that it will amount to hundreds of millions of hryvnia.
