The publication writes: “At the end of January, a group of Croatian volunteers joined the fighting in the eastern part of Ukraine. They joined the ranks of the Ukrainian Azov battalion.
Croats, most of whom are veterans of the Civil War, serve in peacekeeping missions or are football fans. They admitted that they remember very well the war in the early nineties in their homeland. They claim that they do not receive money for serving in the Azov regiment, but do it of their own free will and for the idea.
Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic confirmed that Croats are fighting in Ukraine, but only in the ranks of the regular army. The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern about this statement and the fact of the participation of Croatian citizens in hostilities in Donbass. Foreign Minister Pušić, however, did not mention what idea Croatian citizens are fighting for and where. The portal publishes photos of Croatian volunteers in the ranks of the Azov regiment.
