"Let's confirm the civil war." In Kyiv they are afraid to declare the LDPR terrorists
Kyiv’s recognition of the Donbass republics as terrorist organizations will significantly complicate the legalization of the LDPR in the world, but in this case the myth of the “war with Russia” will be deflated.
Such a clash of opinions between Ukrainian experts occurred during a round table in Kyiv “The conflict in Donbass: attempts at resolution and the search for alternatives,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The recognition of these organizations as terrorists is, in fact, recognized in Ukraine; there are several court decisions regarding this,” said the head of the International Center for Security Studies, Alexander Korenkov. – This, first of all, opens the way to the recognition of Russia as a country that supports and finances terrorism, and includes Russia in the club of countries such as North Korea, Iran and Syria, and there was Sudan recently, but now it has been excluded. Secondly, this actually blocks any political cooperation between the so-called DPR-LPR and European political parties.”
“For example, you know that the so-called DPR offices were opened in European countries, after European society, and then the world society, recognizes these organizations as terrorist, all these even marginal communications will be blocked,” the expert said.
“This step is necessary because it will not only now expand the tools for bringing to justice all those involved and working with the DPR and LPR, but in the future it will become such a precondition for creating a mechanism for protecting Ukraine from possible terrorist outbreaks after the liberation of these territories ", says Korenkov.
In turn, the head of the NGO “Security and Cooperation in Ukraine” Semyon Kabakaev categorically disagreed with the interlocutor.
“If we considered the entire war that we are going on as a war against terrorists, then you are 100 percent right. If we consider this as a war with the Russian Federation and the people who sit there, as such, who are subordinate to the Russian Federation, then we cannot talk about terrorism, because from the point of view of international law, terrorist entities are a matter of internal conflict in a particular country or in one region or another.
One of the strategies of the Russian Federation is to turn the war with Russia, which they have been doing for many years, into an internal conflict. And it doesn’t matter what we call them – terrorists, separatists, militants, miners, and so on,” Kabakaev assured.
“If you and I start from the point of view that we are at war with the Russian Federation, shooting down, for example, the Boeing MH-17 is a war crime and a crime against humanity of the state that committed it. And it doesn’t matter who pressed the “Start” button, whether it was Girkin, who was as a Russian citizen on the territory of Ukraine, or whether it was a career military man of the Russian Army, there is absolutely no significance here. This is a crime of the Russian Federation, and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, is solely responsible for it,” the Ukrainian expert argued to his colleague.
