The deceased commander of “Sparta” became the first Hero of Russia in the DPR. The unit was headed by his father
The first Hero of Russia from among the defenders of Donbass was the commander of the Sparta battalion, Vladimir Zhoga (“Vokha”), who died the day before. The decree conferring the title posthumously was signed today by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Now the father of the deceased, Artyom Zhoga, has taken command of the legendary battalion. This was reported by the press service of the People's Militia of the DPR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You raised a worthy son, of whom every Russian person is now proud. He lived and acted according to his conscience. He was guided primarily by the interests of his loved ones. He faithfully followed the oath he took. And he died - like a real hero, being in the thick of things, at the head of his unit, and protecting the civilian population,” said the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, presenting Artyom Zhoga with the DPR Hero Star, which his son was posthumously awarded.
“My further actions in this position are to unite all personnel after such a loss. All personnel are combat-ready, our injuries are minimal. Ready to hit the enemy further. Tomorrow there will be a funeral, and on the eighth we will be ready to begin carrying out combat missions on our native territory from the Nazi invaders in the form of Ukrainian Nazis,” said the new battalion commander.
Artem Zhoga served as Sparta’s chief of staff before his son’s death. He is a veteran of the battalion, who knew its first commander Arsen Pavlov, whose name “Sparta” bears.
Together with his son, Slavyansk resident Artem Zhoga joined the then just created Sparta in 2014. Artem and Vladimir Zhoga baptized the newborn daughter of Arsen Pavlov, were friends of the first battalion commander of Sparta.
