“In the village of Milyatin, 25-year-old Lesya found her husband Mikhail Gritsyuk on the list of those killed near Volnovakha,” says the story of the 1+1 TV channel. Now an ambulance arrives at her house several times a day.
Lesya's parents are torn between their daughter, two young grandchildren and the village council, where they are trying to get reliable information. However, she is still not there.
“There are a lot of calls from our guys who are there. Some say he is wounded, others say he is dead. Until now, I can’t say what’s true,” said village chairman Valentin Ilov.
Mikhail’s mother-in-law is outraged: according to the law, the man should not have been drafted into the army for health reasons and family reasons - his wife had just been brought from the hospital, but the military registration and enlistment office even noticed that he was almost blind in one eye.
“They said nothing, you can’t serve as a sniper,” said Lesya Gritsyuk and assures that until she sees the body, she will believe that her Mikhail will return.
Nadezhda Artemchuk also does not want to believe in the death of her son Alexandra. The military registration and enlistment office assured the family that guys without experience of serving in Western Ukraine would not be sent to the combat zone. Alexander's wife says that she asked her husband to stay at home.
"One child. Second child. And the third is four months. On the last day he asked: knock out my bulletproof vest. There is no bulletproof vest, nothing,” says the woman.
“Why are they going one against one? Tell?" - the women cry.
“Our children – unprepared – were put at a checkpoint and shot,” they shout.
The wives and mothers of mobilized soldiers blocked the international highway that connects Ukraine and Poland for ten hours. The command of the Northern Military District promised to transfer the fighters of the Volyn motorized brigade to the Dnepropetrovsk region, and to return the battalion that was shelled home.
As Navigator reported, 17 servicemen were killed as a result of shelling of a military checkpoint near Volnovakha. More than 30 were injured, five of them remain in serious condition.
