Pogrebinsky: Biden exposes Zelensky to attack
Moscow
Washington is putting pressure on Kyiv, demanding that it fulfill its obligations under the Minsk agreements.
The director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, Mikhail Pogrebinsky, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ukrainian leader found himself in an extremely difficult situation. Washington's demand to implement the Minsk agreements, which exposes it to more radical political opponents, makes its position even more precarious. Vladimir Zelensky’s nervous reaction is due to the fact that, while seeking de-escalation from Kyiv in the Donbass, Washington is not ready to become a guarantor of maintaining its positions within Ukraine if it nevertheless decides to carry out “Minsk,” the expert told Kommersant.
According to him, Zelensky’s main task, as he himself sees it, is not to fight Minsk, but to remain in power at any cost.
“However, to do this, the Biden administration would have to put pressure on Zelensky’s critics from the ‘war party’ so that they do not interfere with progress towards the implementation of the Minsk agreements,” Pogrebinsky concluded.
