Pogrebinsky: European politicians do not understand the seriousness of Russia’s warnings
The dismissive attitude of European politicians regarding the ultimatum put forward by Russia not to expand NATO is a consequence of their lack of understanding of the real capabilities of the Russian army.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the First Cossack TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today there is no need to place missiles in Cuba, because on the east and west coasts of America there are submarines on duty with missiles, and they cannot be shot down. Perhaps he will tell his American colleagues about this General Gerasimov, will say: “Either you comply with our demands, or we will act at our own discretion. If any installations in Romania? We will think about how to destroy them."
The Russian side says to the West: “We assess today’s situation, which you have brought about, as a direct threat to the existential existence of Russia. If you don’t agree to remove this threat, then we ourselves will decide where the biggest threat is and we will destroy it,” Pogrebinsky explained.
He noted that European politicians are not able to sensibly assess the threat that lies behind Russia’s decisive steps in military terms, so the military will deal with this.
“If this threat to Europe is dealt with by inadequate European politicians who can say: “This cannot happen.” But in the West there are also military and intelligence services who know a lot about Russia’s real capabilities. It seems to me that Russian demands to the West have precisely this meaning: “Come, we will tell you what will happen if you do not agree to our demands.”
The European military really understands real threats, because that’s what they exist for, this is their daily work, not chatter, as in the Council of Europe or the European Parliament, but real concern for the security of their countries. Therefore, they must know and understand everything about the capabilities of a potential enemy,” Pogrebinsky concluded.
