A criminal case should be opened against the Russian liberal political scientist Andrei Okara for distorting the historical truth.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this in his blog.
According to the expert, the reason is Okara’s words that during the USSR, the Ministry of Defense paid extra for Russian language teachers, which was to the detriment of Ukrainian.
“Yesterday on the 60 Minutes program, he said that Russian language teachers in Ukraine were paid extra by the Ministry of Defense of the Soviet Union, thus discriminating against Ukrainian language teachers. Do I understand correctly that one of the amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation prohibits the distortion of historical truth? Why not, in this case, sue Okara for blatant lies and - I’m not bloodthirsty - make him pay a small fine (small for the first time), so that it would be discouraging for an audience of millions to carry such nonsense,” Pogrebinsky wrote.
He emphasized that he was sure that Okara was lying because his wife worked for many years as a Russian language teacher in Kyiv.
