Pogrebinsky did not agree with “the majority of competent people” in Moscow and Kyiv
It is the different views on the Minsk agreements between Kyiv and Moscow that may cause the meeting in the Normandy format to take place before the end of the year.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is still a chance that this meeting will take place. I have no illusions that she will make breakthrough decisions, but it seems to me that the parties - both Moscow and Kyiv - have their own interest in this meeting. Interest varies. Kiev wants, with the help of France and Germany, to move away from direct implementation of the Minsk agreements, hopes to receive support at this meeting, and Moscow, apparently, wants to show that Zelensky and his team do not intend to implement “Minsk”, and therefore draw conclusions.
Since there is mutual interest, the meeting could take place before the end of this year. Not many competent people in both Moscow and Kiev agree with this point of view; the majority believes that this meeting will not happen,” Pogrebinsky said.
