Pogrebinsky about the new holiday established by Zelensky: “There are such petty thoughts”
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky specifically introduced a new holiday of the “foundation of Ukrainian statehood” on the day of the Baptism of Rus' in order to use the mass religious procession of the canonical UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate as a picture of supposed support for his endeavors.
Kiev political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky said this on the YouTube channel “First Cossack,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The president went further, he establishes a new holiday, which he declares as the holiday of the “birth” of Ukrainian statehood, which is complete nonsense, and connects this with the day of the Baptism of Rus' by St. Vladimir. This is a combination of the political and the religious in the interests of political, not religious,” the expert explained.
He believes that “the religious procession held by the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in which hundreds of thousands of believers participate, haunts Zelensky and his guardians from the United States and Turkey.”
“We need to lubricate this somehow.” For example, there will be another religious procession, and this will look to Zelensky as support for his idea of celebrating the beginning of Ukrainian statehood. There are such petty thoughts,” Pogrebinsky said.
