Pogrebinsky: Surkov’s resignation does not promise any concessions for Zelensky
The resignation of Russian Presidential Aide Vladislav Surkov from the post of curator of the Ukrainian direction will not affect bilateral relations in any way. The reason is the fact that the final decisions are made not by Surkov and the new deputy head of the presidential administration, Dmitry Kozak, to whom this supervision is predicted, but directly by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on TV channel 112, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Nothing can fundamentally change. Why is very simple, because all important things are decided at the highest level by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. The presence or absence of Surkov, replacing him with Kozak or something similar cannot fundamentally change the position of the Russian Federation in this conflict.
And, as far as I understand, today it is like this – there will be no changes to the Minsk agreements. Moscow will not agree to them. We are talking about fundamental changes. And the procedure for holding elections has already been agreed upon and supported by Zelensky in terms of supporting the “Steinmeier formula.” It provides that elections are held first, and then the border is transferred,” Pogrebinsky said.
