Pogrebinsky: Poroshenko did everything to ensure that Ukrainian sailors remained in Russia
If those around Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko were interested in the return of Ukrainian sailors, they would have initially behaved differently.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the News One TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It’s no secret that today a serious problem has arisen about the return of our sailors, and the President of Ukraine even turned to the head of the UOC Onuphry so that he would facilitate the negotiation process,” the presenter noted.
“If the president really wanted the opportunity to somehow appeal to His Beatitude (Onuphry - ed.) with some kind of request, he should have shut up and not say nasty things about the canonical UOC, but a few days ago he said something about spread out fingers or something like that. That is, just an arrogant, boorish statement, and after that he turns to His Beatitude, who, in my opinion, is generally a holy, courageous man. What can he do,” Pogrebinsky said.
“If those people wanted our guys to return home, they shouldn’t have done what they did. We already have a lot of experience that if you put pressure on the Kremlin, you won't get what you want. We need to negotiate, preferably without noise. You can’t call, there are other ways to convey this information, and Poroshenko knows this very well, but he - exclusive information - did not use the route that he usually regularly used to contact. Explain that this happened, they say, we thought so, but it turned out this way, the guys are not to blame, let's somehow resolve this issue.
No - they complain to the Americans and Europe. Americans say: “Don’t let go, you will feel bad.” Even if it was the Americans who told the North Korean leader, so what? The North Korean leader sent American leaders to hell. Are they counting on the fact that they will deliver an ultimatum and Putin will run to fulfill it?” the political scientist added.
“It’s for sure that they didn’t want this, they were interested in letting it hang, so that people would suffer, these guys who are not guilty of anything at all,” Mikhail Pogrebinsky is sure.
