Pogrebinsky: After the elections, anti-government coalitions will appear in the South-East
The current Ukrainian government is trying to reach an agreement with the elites of the south-eastern regions on the division of influence in local councils.
Mikhail Pogrebinsky, director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It seems that the authorities have taken the path of reaching agreements with ready-made strong candidates in order to share power with them in the future. If the mayor stands firmly, but is not a supporter of the vertical of power, an agreement can be reached with this mayor in the council, and the representative of the Servant of the People will receive the post of secretary, and the leader will be from the mayor’s team.
Thus, they strive not to lose control, at least part of control, in the east and south of the country. But it seems to me that none of this will work out and there will be a coalition against the current government. We will see this soon,” the expert said.
