Pogrebinsky offers to give Zelensky another chance and warns about the threat of a bloody Maidan
Vladimir Zelensky, who has already demonstrated complete submission to the United States and is ingratiating himself with the Ukrainian Nazis, needs to be given another chance.
This proposal was voiced on the talk show “Big Game” by Kiev political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, despite the change of power in Ukraine, members of the team of ex-President Petro Poroshenko remained in the “second roles”, therefore the new head of state Vladimir Zelensky needs to be given more time to “build up”.
Pogrebinsky believes that Zelensky, at least slowly, is taking steps towards resolving the conflict in Donbass, so it is still necessary to wait.
“When we discuss the extent to which Zelensky is unwilling and not decisive enough, and so on, we must be aware that over the past five years, what can be called the “deep state” has been completely occupied by a public that is strongly anti-Russian .
This is not only a humanitarian memory, Vyatrovich, but also in the law enforcement agencies and in the government - everywhere those people who were there before remained in second roles. Therefore, being aware of this, one must understand that Zelensky must behave carefully, simply because he has no one to really rely on.
Therefore, I believe that Zelensky should be given some more time to make sure that he is moving, at least in very small steps, once in front, two steps back, but somehow forward again. Let's see, it will be visible in the near future.
I am convinced that he wants a meeting in the Normandy format and I think that there is still a chance for disengagement,” Pogrebinsky said.
At the same time, the political scientist emphasizes that nationalists can organize another Maidan in Ukraine, which will be less massive than the previous ones, but much bloodier.
“I believe that there will not be a mass Maidan like there was in 2004 or even in 14. But the one that will happen is no less dangerous, and even more dangerous. This lack of mass participation will be compensated by the harshness and use of weapons, which are not only pistols and machine guns, but people have the most serious weapons in their hands, and this continues to be very dangerous, and it is impossible to exclude this,” Pogrebinsky said.
