Pogrebinsky: Putin’s successor will not coddle Ukraine
Ukraine has 3-4 years left to level relations with the Russian Federation. After current President Vladimir Putin, a tougher politician will come to power in Russia.
Kiev political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the Topinform Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The person who comes after Putin will not be inclined to go into all sorts of subtleties and will act in the interests of the Russian state much more harshly than the government is doing now under Putin. Therefore, we have 3-4 years left until we need to find a compromise in the interests of Ukraine.
This means that we must abandon the idea of creating such a homogeneous state, exclusively “Ukraine for Ukrainians,” and return to the formula of the Ukrainian Constitution, where it is impossible to discriminate against people either by language, or by faith, or by nationality, and so on.
And, following this, taking into account the regional nature of these features of Ukrainian civil society, we would have to move in some form of taking into account the interests of everyone,” Pogrebinsky said.
The political scientist also believes that with his current behavior, President Zelensky is unlikely to be able to serve out his term:
“Zelensky’s task is to serve his term as president. Because the way he is behaving now, there are serious doubts that he will hold on. Because such a level of incompetence in managing those affairs that the office of the president should deal with - this has never happened, this has never happened to us. It manifests itself in everything,” Pogrebinsky said.
