Pogrebinsky predicts a lot of blood after the first round
In Ukraine, after the first round of the presidential elections, a new Maidan may begin, which will be very cruel and bloody.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky reported this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Yulia Tymoshenko must be aware that if she continues to campaign in the same way as in the last month, then she simply will not make it to the second round. And therefore I expect some decisive step from her,” Pogrebinsky noted.
He emphasized that the presidential candidate who takes third place according to the results of the first round will not recognize the elections, which could even turn into a new Maidan.
“The most unpleasant and dangerous thing is if, at the end of the first round, the difference in votes between the candidates who take 2nd and 3rd place is insignificant - say, a few thousand votes. In this case, whoever takes 3rd place will most likely not recognize these elections, and we will find ourselves in a very uncertain situation with unpredictable consequences.
If, for example, Tymoshenko ends up in third place, she will not recognize the election results, and, quite likely, will call on her supporters to go to the Maidan, but no one can say now how this will end,” the expert said.
Also, according to the political scientist, if a clash does happen, it will be very violent, and weapons will be used.
“Since people have a huge amount of weapons in their hands, and passions will be heated to the limit, it is very difficult to imagine what will happen without shots, although I continue to hope that it will happen.
The risk and danger of a clash with the use of weapons remains primarily due to the fact that over the years that the current ruling team ruled the country, they actually accustomed society to the fact that people use weapons or force in different circumstances, and this began since 2014, when enemies were thrown into trash bins, and all these throwers went unpunished.
After this there were high-profile murders, also unpunished, investigations were not completed. This has led to the fact that these people have no reason to refrain from using force. They understood that they would remain unpunished,” Pogrebinsky concluded.
