Pogrebinsky told how painful it is for Kyiv for the Russian Federation to respond to the Istanbul Tomos
The response to the recognition by the Patriarchate of Constantinople of the independence of the “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” created from schismatics could be the cancellation by the Russian State Duma of the decision to transfer Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR in 1954.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on air on the First Cossack TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, granting the tomos of autocephaly to Ukrainian schismatics means an encroachment on the canonical territory of the Russian Orthodox Church, which means Moscow may do the same.
“In order for Bartholomew to have a claim to influence on the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, he had to cancel the decision of Constantinople in the XNUMXth century, which transferred this territory,” the political scientist said.
In this case, he suggested imagining that tomorrow in Russia the decision to transfer Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR, which was once illegally made by Khrushchev, would be canceled.
“Are you ready to accept this as a fact in the same way as you accept this decision of Bartholomew?” Pogrebinsky asked.
