Pogrebinsky: Nord Stream 2 will work under any German Chancellor
Regardless of who becomes Chancellor of Germany based on the results of the elections held there the day before, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, built bypassing Ukraine, will start operating.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, difficult times await Ukraine and the United States will not help it.
“This madam from the Greens is the chancellor of the 99% that will not happen. As for Scholz or Laschette, the heir to Chancellor Merkel, they both took positions in support of Nord Stream 2. And it is clear that they will continue this line, although new problems appear there and so on. But the main problem is the cold. And they don't have enough gas, and so on. All this will be resolved anyway, Nord Stream will work. But we may have problems,” the expert believes.
“And all these ideas that someone there can - for example, the [US Special Representative for North Stream 2] Amos Hochstein speaks out, he was appointed by US President Biden, that you will keep an eye on Nord Stream - 2” and so on... It is clear that Russia will fulfill the obligations that it has undertaken, and not beyond that, no matter how some people in the American State Department or in the Ukrainian Naftogaz would like, Pogrebinsky believes.
