Pogrebinsky: The US is strengthening external governance of Ukraine
Signed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky during his visit to the United States, they strengthen Kyiv’s dependence on Washington.
Kiev political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky told Izvestia about this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The signed agreements only increase dependence on the United States, and radically in such industries as energy. It's the same in space. Nevertheless, it will help to collect PR points. The countries’ relations will not change qualitatively in any way - this is just another step within the framework of US external control over key sectors of the Ukrainian economy,” Pogrebinsky believes.
Let us recall that in the United States Zelensky signed several documents, including: a memorandum on the construction of five power units of the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant worth about $30 billion, an agreement on the strategic framework of the defense partnership until 2026, providing for joint “ensuring security in the Black Sea,” as well as a memorandum on mutual understanding on space flight safety.
In addition, the US Export-Import Bank intends to allocate $3 billion to Ukraine.
