The reason for the outbreak of the civil war in Ukraine was not Russia’s actions in Crimea, but the violation of the agreement signed during the Euromaidan by the opposition and then-President Viktor Yanukovych with guarantees from EU representatives.

“My opponents usually say: “Well, they annexed Crimea, that’s where it all started.” But it didn’t start with that, it started with the fact that the agreement signed by Yanukovych and the then opposition and certified by the guarantors, the foreign ministers of Germany, France and Poland, stipulated that early presidential elections were to be held before December, and before that time an inclusive government would be formed .
