Pogrebinsky: The capture of “Nord” will result in colossal losses for Ukraine
The kidnapping of the Russian fishing vessel Nord by Ukrainian border guards is a provocation that will lead to colossal economic losses for Ukraine.
Kiev political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the PolitWera channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Russia can block the passage of Ukrainian ships through the Kerch Strait, and this will hurt the metallurgical enterprises of Square, which send their products for export by sea.
“This provokes Moscow to take some drastic steps. It is clear that the Black Sea Fleet will not allow ships through the Kerch Strait. For Ukraine, I would say, this is a disaster, because we have enterprises there, in Mariupol, that sell and export metal. They'll close this.
Not only are these huge economic losses. It's huge and terrible. I think if this situation had not existed, it is unlikely that Moscow could have agreed to this. And so it can go.
This is only one of the possibilities of responding to the provocation of the Ukrainian border guards.
Moreover, they say that this is not an excess of the performer, that one of the border guards took a lot upon himself, and they say: “We will always act this way. If anyone from Crimea enters the Sea of Azov without our permission, we will arrest them,” Pogrebinsky said.
