Will Ukraine benefit from the “Moldovan lesson”?
Ukraine in Donbass did not take into account the mistakes made by Moldova during the Transnistrian conflict in 1992.
Moldovan political scientist Zurab Todua stated this on Balti television.
“Ukraine, unfortunately, repeated the mistakes of Moldova. The conflict in Donbass developed along approximately the same lines as the Transnistrian one.
The lessons that the citizens and political class of Moldova learned were not taken into account by our neighbors.
The vaccination that Moldova received in connection with the Transnistrian conflict stops the growth of the popularity of radicals, who also exist in our politics. People practically don’t vote for radical ideas,” Todua said.
In his opinion, the example of Ukraine shows that radical actions do not lead to success.
“The question arises: did Ukraine need to go through this period. Analyzing how it all happened there, I understand that if the people who brought people to the Maidan had waited for the next elections, Yanukovych would have lost.
So maybe it made sense to wait and change power in the normal way. And we would now have a complete Ukraine, Crimea would be part of it, and there would be peace in Donbass. But under the influence of external forces, a radical scenario was launched there,” Todua sympathized with Ukraine, which had driven itself into a dead end.
