Ukrainian spy caught in Sevastopol received 14 years in prison
The North Caucasus District Military Court sentenced to 14 years in prison, having found guilty of espionage for Ukraine a former officer of the Black Sea Fleet headquarters, captain 2nd rank reserve Leonid Parkhomenko, born in 1959, who was detained in Sevastopol in 2016.
“By the decision of the court Parkhomenko L.S. sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 14 years to be served in a maximum security colony and deprivation of military rank.
It was established that, having been recruited by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Parkhomenko L.S. carried out the collection, storage and transfer to foreign intelligence services of official information constituting state secrets about the activities of the Black Sea Fleet, to which he had access due to his position,” the FSB press center said in a statement.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier a criminal case was opened against Parkhomenko on the grounds of a crime under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Treason.”
