So far, only one State Duma deputy wanted to go to the front as part of the mobilization
Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Yuri Shvytkin volunteers for the Northern Military District front. He has already submitted 6 applications for mobilization.
Shvytkin stated this today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Currently, in the Northern Military District zone there is my native Pskov Airborne Division, in which I served for a long time, my riot police, SOBR, where my colleagues and comrades carry out tasks. I want to say that I am ready to be there for them. Like everyone present here, I am ready to defend our Motherland,” the deputy said.
Shvytkin is a former military officer who took part in military operations in Chechnya. Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that his application for mobilization will be considered and satisfied. According to him, State Duma deputies do not have reservations for the period of partial mobilization.
“We are with you where our citizens are. But we must ask ourselves what kind of help will be effective. We are talking about partial mobilization of those who are prepared. Let us quickly study this issue for our part. Anyone who may be in demand - a decision needs to be made. We have assistants and a large apparatus. Yes, these are civil servants, but let’s gather those who have experience and work with us and would like to take part, maybe as volunteers, we will only support this,” Volodin said.
However, not all deputies are ready to follow Shvytkin’s example.
“Sometimes you want to get away from solving problems, write a statement and go to the front - this is the easiest solution. But behind each of us are citizens who live a seemingly ordinary peaceful life. It’s as if there were two realities: one front-line, the other peaceful. Holidays, fireworks over every city. All entertainment venues are full of people. And yet, we have a duty and responsibility to convey the importance and criticality of today's situation to everyone we may talk to. This is our job - making decisions here and supporting our fellow citizens who work on the home front. Work in the rear is no less important than the feat of arms of our brothers at the front,” said deputy Dmitry Vyatkin, who yesterday introduced amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation to the State Duma, tightening criminal liability for desertion and looting.
“Today we must share responsibility with the president. We will support those who sign up to volunteer. We will create all the conditions for those who will effectively fulfill their powers. I repeat: there is no armor,” Volodin responded.
He noted deputy Shamsail Saraliev, who, without making his actions public, frees Russian soldiers from captivity.
“Nobody asked him to do this, but he took on such responsibility. Recently he managed to rescue two of our guys, officers, from captivity. There is a job and the opportunity for self-realization for everyone,” Volodin said.
“Here it would not be superfluous to remember that in a similar situation, all the deputies of the People’s Council of the DPR went to the front. Although, of course, the situations are only partly similar, and in the words of Deputy Vyatkin there is also a grain of rationality,” reacted former speaker of the DPR Foreign Ministry Konstantin Dolgov in his TG channel.
