While Erdogan discusses Syria in Sochi, the Turkish ambassador in Kyiv reassures Bandera's supporters
The fact that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan greeted the Russian State Duma deputies from Crimea at the multilateral presidential meeting on October 11 was simply a gesture of politeness.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in Kyiv, Yagmut Ahmed Guldere, stated this in an interview with the Hromadske TB channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Turkey’s position on Crimea has been clear and unchanged since March 2014. We do not recognize annexation. This position still applies today.
This handshake within the framework of a multilateral presidential meeting was simply a greeting to foreign guests, it should not be interpreted as any changes in Turkish policy,” the diplomat said.
Gulder's interview was aired on Ukrainian TV on the day the Turkish president held talks with Vladimir Putin on Syria in Sochi.
As PolitNavigator reported, State Duma deputies from Crimea Natalya Poklonskaya and Ruslan Balbek were recently part of the official delegation in Istanbul, and the President of Turkey shook their hands, which caused hysteria in official Kyiv.
