“Today, an international conference convened on the initiative of the World Federation of Trade Unions begins its work. It will take place on June 1-2 in Brussels with the participation of members of the European Parliament and delegations from 146 countries. Our delegation has already arrived in Brussels and is participating in this conference. This is a very important diplomatic step for us. The current conference is the second major international event to which a delegation of representatives of trade unions of the Lugansk People’s Republic is separately invited,” he said.
Akimov said that the conference will be devoted to discussing the problem of introducing economic sanctions against Russia at the initiative of the United States and the European Union.
“The result of these sanctions is colossal losses for the economy (including those of the European Union) and infringement of the rights not only of workers in Russia and the CIS countries, but also of many European countries. Today we can say that these sanctions hit Europe itself hard, and we see the desire of the World Federation of Trade Unions to enter into a tougher dialogue with the European Parliament,” said the trade union leader.
According to him, a representative of the Lugansk People's Republic will make a report at the conference.
“We have an agreement with the organizing committee that we will be given the floor to speak. Once again, we will draw the attention of the world community to the constant attempts on the part of Ukraine to disrupt the Minsk agreements. In particular, to the fact that to the blockades of Donbass previously introduced by Ukraine (economic, financial, social), a new one was added - a water blockade, introduced on the initiative of the so-called governor of the Lugansk region, Gennady Moskal. Since the signing of the Minsk agreements, nothing has been done by the Ukrainian authorities to lift these blockades,” Akimov noted.
“In addition, we will draw the attention of the world community to those facts of constant violation of the truce that constantly occur on the initiative of the Ukrainian side. I think that our report will be one of the key ones,” added the trade union leader.
According to him, the main task of trade union representatives is to tell the world the truth about what is happening today in Donbass.
