“Until our republic enters the Normandy format, there will be no progress in the negotiations” - DPR deputy
Donetsk is not surprised by the failure of the last meeting in the “Normandy format”, the participants of which failed to agree on a “road map” for resolving the conflict in Donbass.

Deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR Alla Barkhatnova stated this in a comment to PolitNavigator.
“We did not expect anything more from these negotiations. Quite predictably, they led nowhere. The “road map” proposed by Ukraine is completely contrary to the “road map” proposed by Russia. According to the Russian side, first of all it is necessary to cancel the ATO. But Ukraine does not agree to this. All actions of the Ukrainian government are aimed at starting hostilities again. It is obvious that Russia and the people's republics are interested in a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass. But Ukraine is not,” she noted.
According to the deputy, the reason for this position of official Kyiv is that they have not yet received new “introductory notes” from their American curators.
“The whole point is that they still don’t have introductory notes. The old American curators are losing their influence, and friendship with the new ones has not yet worked out. Representatives of Ukraine simply do not understand how relations between America and Ukraine will develop in the future. And in order not to “get hurt”, they decided to do nothing at all and just play for time,” Alla Barkhatnova is convinced.
According to her, the only issue on which the parties managed to achieve progress in the negotiations was the long-delayed start of the work of the economic subgroup. At the same time, the deputy sees “pitfalls” here too.
“The Ukrainians are not against it, this is not a political issue: let’s talk about water, about opening additional checkpoints... But they don’t want to talk about the most important thing - about paying the pensions stolen by Ukraine to our citizens. Those. in fact, nothing is being done,” she laments.
Alla Barkhatnova is convinced that in order to force Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements, it is necessary to change the format of negotiations.
“Until representatives of our republics enter the Normandy format, this format will not justify itself,” summed up the deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR.
