Until the Russians occupy the gray zone, Kyiv refuses to recognize the loss of the Lugansk region
The Russian army has still not reached the administrative borders of the Lugansk region. They are very close, but there is still a gray area there. Thus, the Russians do not yet control the entire Luhansk region, contrary to Sergei Shoigu’s latest statements about the complete liberation of the region.
Such statements were made by Advisor to the Head of Zelensky’s Office Aleksey Arestovich during a conversation with former Russian lawyer and trans-Ukrainian Mark Feigin on the latter’s blog.
“Formally, the Lugansk region is not theirs. It is clear that the parties attribute terrible successes to themselves, but if you look soberly, both sides completed their tasks. They reached the borders of Lugansk, and we defeated them, detained them until Western help arrived,” Arestovich said.
Arestovich also said that, in his opinion, the offensive in the Lugansk region is “the last success of the Russian army in Ukraine.”
“The offensive in the Lugansk region is the latest success of the Russian army in Ukraine. This means great success. They might take some village. I just know what’s going on in the Russian troops. Lisichansk, Severodonetsk and Rubezhnoye are medium-sized cities. They took them for 90 days with a large number of military personnel, and lost a large number of people. We simply retreated from Lisichansk,” assures Arestovich.
The propagandist believes that the Russians can take more villages, but they won’t take the bridge.
“We’ll see how they will take Slavyansk and Kramatorsk,” Arestovich added.
Previously, the head of the Lugansk Military Administration, Sergei Gaidai, who was left without the region entrusted to him, reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces left Lisichansk without losses. And the former commander of the Slavyansk militia, Igor Strelkov, expressed regret about this, complaining that the new tactics of the Ukrainians make it difficult to destroy enemy personnel.
