While they are arming for free - the Ukrainian Ambassador to the USA justified herself for the lack of Lend-Lease
As long as Congress is ready to provide free military aid to Ukraine, Kyiv will be content with what is given and not insist on Lend-Lease.
Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Makarova stated this in an interview with Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Lend-Lease is one of the tools by which we can receive security assistance. At the moment we receive it for free. We receive grants under three programs - equipment and security assistance. When there is no money allocated by Congress to receive for free, we will be able to receive the same equipment under Lend-Lease. This is precisely the opportunity that Lend-Lease provides,” she argued.
“However, why should we take lend-lease today, that is, lease or rent, pay money for it, if our strategic partner is now giving us this help for free? Lend-Lease is an option to receive security assistance through other instruments - rent or leasing instruments,” Makarova justified herself.
