“We’ll show the scoundrels”: Lukashenko threatened to introduce martial law in Belarus
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko allowed the introduction of martial law in the country.
He stated this today at a meeting on the development of the Grodno region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let Karaev (ex-minister of internal affairs, inspector for the Grodno region - ed.) puts on a general's uniform. To you (Governor of the Grodno region - ed.) was also awarded the rank of major general, and forward. Martial law, if necessary, but there should be no subsidence. We must show these scoundrels on the other side of the border that their sanctions mean they are powerless. And we will do it,” Lukashenko said.
He intends to introduce martial law if there is a threat of “subsidence” of industrial enterprises in Belarus by the end of the year.
“We were preparing for this, we knew what was facing us. There should be no subsidence at any enterprise,” Lukashenko said.
He was assured that “measures have been developed to compensate” for the loss of the European market, which “is not the main one.”
