“I was kidnapped on the orders of the deputy governor of the Dnepropetrovsk region, Gennady Korban, and for nine days I was between life and death at the Right Sector base, which is located in the village of Peski, Donetsk region. In fact, Kolomoisky’s people are committing outrages on the basis of the Right Sector,” Velichko said.
“Exclusively under the guarantees of the Prosecutor General, I am ready, within the framework of the law, to testify against Corban. If the Prosecutor General's Office does not stop Gennady Korban, he will kill me and my family members. And as long as Korban is at large and represents the interests of the regional authorities, not a single resident of the Dnepropetrovsk region can be safe,” Velichko emphasized.
According to Velichko, after information about his abduction became known to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and foreign diplomats, the kidnappers forced him to read a statement from a sheet of paper on camera in which he stated that he had kidnapped himself. After this, the militants brought him to the prosecutor's office of Novomoskovsk (Dnepropetrovsk region).
As PolitNavigator reported, on February 25, the media reported that after a meeting with Korban, Velichko was abducted by people in camouflage uniforms. The then acting The mayor of Dnepropetrovsk, Maxim Romanenko, officially stated that the organizer of the kidnapping was Gennady Korban.
