According to the publication, the court refused to combine the military cases into one proceeding and is considering them separately. The court is now examining written evidence in the case of Warrant Officer Odintsov.

“At previous hearings, Maxim Odintsov stated that he did not admit his guilt in treason. He said that he was Russian by nationality and had citizenship of the Russian Federation. In addition, before his arrest he was a Russian military serviceman in a military unit. In the Baranov case, the indictment was never prepared for trial. The defendant asked for a free defense lawyer, since it is not possible to pay for the services of lawyers,” the report says.

Let us remind you that Russian military personnel - warrant officer Maxim Odintsov and sergeant Alexander Baranov - were captured on the border with Crimea by the Security Service of Ukraine on November 21. They were lured out under the pretext of transferring documents from universities about obtaining higher education. Now Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are accusing the military of “high treason.” It is assumed that they can be transferred to the Russian Federation as part of a prisoner exchange.
