“It looks like it has begun”: Donbass evacuates women and children
The DPR begins evacuating civilians to Russia due to the threat of an offensive by the Ukrainian army.
The head of the republic, Denis Pushilin, stated this in an emergency address to the citizens of the DPR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The enemy’s armed forces are in combat formation and ready for the forceful seizure of Donbass. President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky will soon give the order to the military to go on the offensive and implement the plan for invading the territory of the LDPR. I appeal to all residents of our state...from today, February 18, a mass centralized departure of the population to the Russian Federation has been organized. Women, children and the elderly are the first to be evacuated. We kindly ask you to listen and make the right decision. Temporary departure will save the life and health of you and your loved ones.
By agreement with the leadership of the Russian Federation, places for the reception and accommodation of our citizens are ready in the Rostov Region. The evacuees will be provided with everything necessary. All conditions have been created for a quick transition at checkpoints.
Managers of enterprises and institutions need to organize the departure of families of employees. The territorial defense headquarters must provide transport for the evacuation of civilians,” the head of the republic announced.
“But now, it seems, it has begun,” comments RT head Margarita Simonyan.
She referred to the details of a conversation with Pushilin, in which he reported on the preparation of the Ukrainians for the offensive: “their units are lined up in battle formations. If they have not yet received the order, they will receive it in the very near future. We can’t wait any longer and risk civilians.”
State Duma deputy Evgeny Popov said that the evacuation is a signal of the “inevitability of war.”
“They don’t believe in a peaceful outcome in Donbass. If the population is removed, war cannot be avoided. I think the decision has been made after the DRG attack on Stirol. The plant is within the boundaries of Gorlovka, and there are still giant containers of chlorine there. A real weapon of mass destruction. If Ze starts a war, this time it will be very short,” comments Popov.
“I wish our guys that if we force the presumptuous Bandera-Nazi bastard to peace, they will manage to advance as far as possible and gain a foothold as firmly as possible,” writes columnist Yegor Kholmogorov.
