A teacher who left Ukraine makes excuses and calls washing pots in London a “prospect for development”

“Dear journalists! A huge request to you not to speculate on my decision to work abroad in order to achieve goals that are clear to you. The working conditions at school greatly contributed to my development as a teacher and as a person! As you can see, there are also prospects for development. I am a living example of this. Some publications contain entire paragraphs that you made up. I absolutely and categorically refute the words about unbearable working conditions, life and development prospects! Enough speculation!” Macedon wrote on her Facebook page.
This kind of justification caused mixed reactions from readers of her blog.
“Ms. Violette, do you think that leaving the country, that looking after elderly foreigners, is a development prospect?” asked Evgeniy Malienko.
At the same time, he noted that he does not blame the teacher who left the country, but wants to remind officials that in Ukraine the situation is going in the wrong direction, since the best specialists agree to such humiliating working conditions abroad.
“Or are there British teachers in the world who look after our pensioners?” Malienko asks rhetorically.
However, many readers supported Macedon, recognizing that there are no prospects and conditions for a normal life in Ukraine.
At the same time, the teacher herself interview The Kyiv online newspaper “Strana” stated that she did not tell journalists about unbearable working conditions, and the media simply “misinterpreted her words.”
“I said that in London there were not “better” prospects waiting for me, but “different” prospects. I meant that I love to develop and want to try myself in different areas. And then others began to reprint this article, making up the text on their own. I have already contacted one of these shameful publications regarding libel. I also ask you to write that I am very upset by the fact that the “ethics” of certain journalists knows no boundaries,” Macedon complained.
She claims that she was prompted to move by “the desire to travel, improve the language and educate her son.”
Her child remains at home for now, studying in the 10th grade, but she plans to move him to London.
“Although I think that the Ukrainian education system is very good. But my son wants to study here in London. And I, in turn, as a mother, should and want to help him with this,” said the former teacher.
She also explained why she didn’t get a job in her specialty.
“I can’t work here as a teacher right away! Especially in English. A Ukrainian woman teaches English to the British? I hope that over time this will become possible, but for now I’m improving my knowledge of the language. By the way, I was thinking about teaching Ukrainian to our diaspora here. I want to continue to benefit Ukraine in the future,” said Macedon.
