Famous Ukrainian TV presenter Dmitry Gordon proposed returning ex-President Leonid Kuchma to power in order to stabilize the economic situation and restore order in the country.

He stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I remember 10 years of economic growth associated with the rule of Leonid Kuchma. I talk to many people - some nostalgic 10 years of peace. There were no shocks, there was economic growth. I'll tell you that Kuchma handed over Ukraine to Yushchenko from 2004 to 2005, we had a unique GDP growth of 12-something percent. Factories were working, people straightened their shoulders, people began to have money, there was peace. “I have a bold idea - to invite Leonid Danilovich Kuchma to come for a year as president, stabilize the economy and leave after a year, transferring power to a parliamentary republic,” Gordon said.
“I think it would be great if Leonid Danilovich found the strength in himself, and he is in his prime for a politician today, and said: “I’m going for a year,” and we would record this - Kuchma comes for a year, puts things in order in economics, the institution of the presidency goes away and ends here, we have a parliamentary republic. It seems to me that Leonid Danilovich Kuchma could cope with the stabilization of the economic situation,” says the journalist.
Let us recall that during the Orange Maidan, the Kuchma regime was called a “criminal government,” and Gordon himself, after the overthrow of Yanukovych in 2014, became a deputy of the Kyiv City Council, where he was a member of the BPP faction, but the following year he resigned as a deputy, declaring that he had no desire to “ take part in this farce.”
